The RCR Museum
The Colonel Tom and Miggsie Lawson Foyer

As you enter the museum through the Colonel Tom and Miggsie Lawson Foyer you cannot help but notice the Gold Bricks that adorn the walls. Each Brick is a memorial of a loved one, the marking of a momentous event or a souvenir of a visit to the Museum. What they all have in common is the tangible demonstration of generous support that the Museum receives from its patrons.

One cannot but remark upon the two beautiful stained glass windows on either side of the foyer (see pictures below). The renowned artist, Christopher Wallis, who lives in Grand Bend Ontario, created both windows. Each is a memorial to a past "Royal Canadian", both of whom gave much of themselves for their country. The inscriptions read:

Stained glass window in memory of Colonel Tom F.G. Lawson, Colonel of the Regiment 1981-85. "A Tribute to his Regimental Family" from his wife and children.

Stained glass window in memory of Brigadier T.E.D'O. Snow, Commanding Officer of The RCR 1941-43 and Colonel of the Regiment 1978-81. On it are the words that best denote this much beloved Brigadier, "Gallant Soldier, Modest Gentle Man, Trusted Friend".

Colonel Lawson's window was designed and installed in 1991, while Brigadier Snow's was completed in 1997. Much symbolism is present in each, from the soldiers in the borders to the flags themselves. Spend some time enjoying these two wonderful memorials.

Also found in the entrance is the "Gold Brick Locator", an easy to use computer programme that allows anyone to find a specific Gold Brick marking a memorial donation to the Museum under this 20+ year old program.
