Memorial Crosses and the Regimental Memorial
« on: September 22, 2010, 10:37:08 PM »
The following images were compiled from photos of RCR Memorial Crosses and the Regimental memorial.  The flags in the background are the Canadian flag flying over the tower of Wolseley Hall and the Regimental Banner at the Memorial.

The First World War Memorial Cross is named to 228218 Private David McKay who was killed in France on 1 Oct 1916. McKay was one of four soldiers killed when German heavy artillery shelled the billets occupied by the Regiment behind the front lines. All four are buried in adjacent graves in the Albert Communal Cemetery Extension.

The Second World War Memorial Cross is named to A.3285 Private William Rodgers Allison who was killed in Sicily 25 Jul 1943, ten days after the Landing at Pachino.  He is buried in the Agira Canadian War Cemetery.
