Friends of John will be pleased to note that the ceremony was very good and precisely what, as his son told me afterwards, what his father would have liked. The Korean Veterans Association took the lead, holding a service, placing poppies in John beret and personally offering condolences to John's wife and family. Myself, Jim Kaczmerek and Frank Pearce joined the legionnaires of John's branch with the traditional poppy service. The RCR regimental banner flew proudly and our regimental history, particularly in respect to John's service with the RCR during the Korean conflict, was clearly stated. His grandson was wearing John's regimental tie and the hatbadge he wore when he married his wife 57 years ago. His eldest son wore John's regimental blazer, testament, I believe, to the maxim, once a royal, always a royal.

Pro Patria, John Joseph Sheehan, The Royal Canadian Regiment

Rest in Peace.
