MGen Holmes has received the honour of being made a Grand Officer of the Legion of Merit of the Duchy of Luxembourg

Also seen in his medal rack are the following:

  • Order of the British Empire as a Member (MBE)
  • Commander of the US Army Legion of Merit
  • Serving Brother of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem

Most likely because when I was building those pages for the regimental website, I never found time to start tracking down all of the awards received in the modern era. The Regiment was never very diligent in maintaining such lists and even getting timely updates from the battalions on recent awards has been a challenge for RHQ to accomplish.  Unfortunately, the database maintained by the Governor General's website doesn't always clearly identify parent regiment or unit for every award recipient they have listed.

It was always my hope that members of the Regiment would start submitting names and dates of those they knew had received each award, but unfortunately that never occurred (except for a one correspondent that did great work on the MMM/OMM lists).
