The final batch of photographs from the archives of Al Ditter.
This is the last of them. The day after this series was shot, I packed my camera and repatriated to Canada, ending the best three years of my 30-year career.
In 1972, well into its third year in Baden, 3 Mech Cdo had become accustomed to its new surroundings and when Fallex 72 rolled around, the deployment had become routine, shipping tracked vehicles from the railhead in Rastatt and launching its wheeled vehicles on the road move.
So endeth the lesson. AldiC Company, 3 Mech Cdo preparing to deploy on Fallex 72.
Wheeled vehicles marshalled for the road move to Hohenfels.
Major Bob Alden (later BGEN) and Capt. (later LCOL) Lew Evans.
Impromptu 'O' Group, (unknown), Maj. Bob Alden,
Capts. Nick Stethem (Sigs Officer), Lew Evans, John Joly and Mike Ray.
Mount up!
Leaving for Hohenfels, Fall 1972.
Thanks for everything Al.
Cheers,
Dan.
