The Regiment regrets to inform you of the passing of Lieutenant-Colonel Ian Hodson, Saturday 30 Jan 2010.

Obituary
Ian Albert Hodson

Lieutenant-Colonel (ret’d) Ian Albert Hodson EDC, on January 30, 2010, in Kingston, ON at the age of 90.  Survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Hodson (née Duggin), daughter Ann Louise Frank (Alan), son Peter Vernon Hodson (Kerry), grandchildren Jordan (Denise) and Benjamin Frank and Elise and James Hodson, great-grandchildren Asher and Evan Frank, niece Suzanne, and nephews Michael (Sheila) and Duane (Debbie) Hodson.  Pre-deceased by his father Vernon and mother Jeannemarie (née Neel), his brothers Keith and Neel, and his cherished grandson Alexander Frank.  Colonel Hodson served with the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment from 1939-1946 in Sicily and Italy, and with the Governor Generals’ Foot Guards from 1952-68, becoming Commanding Officer and Aide de Camp to Governor Generals Vanier and Michener. 

A memorial service will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston, on Wed, Feb. 3, 2:00 pm, followed by a reception at the Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Friends of Lemoine Point (Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority) would be appreciated.

As a WW 2  R C R. I had the pleasure of serving under Col Hodson. He was a good leader and sincerely cared for those he worked with. He was very respected as an Individual as well as a soldier. He was a mans man.
Sorry to hear of his passing. He served his country and his regiment with Honor May god Bless him.
