The Regiment regrets to inform you of the passing of Corporal (ret'd) Harold Kent. His obituary is included.
KENT, HAROLD GORDON RONALD It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Kent announces his sudden passing on April 11th, 2009 at the age of 43. He leaves to mourn his wife, Sonia Kent of Burton, NB; children, Alicia, Natasha and Jacob Kent of Burton, NB; parents, Elizabeth and Ronald Kent of Bishop's Falls, NL; sisters, Clarice (Mike) Gillespie of Waterville, NB, Rhonda (Jerry) Stride of St. John's, NL and Bernadette (Shannon) Kent of Grand Falls, NL; brothers, Wayne (Dale) Kent of Bishop's Falls, NL and Clarence (Kim) Kent of Red Deer, AB; nieces, Megan, Emily, Jackie and Jessica; nephews, Brandon, Brady and Ryan; and great nieces, Allie/Anne and Morgane. Corporal H.G. Kent was awarded in recognition for 14 years of service to Canada. He began his career in NL in the reserves reaching the rank of SGT. He was a 2 RCR Infantry Soldier with the 2nd Battalion from 1989 until he retired in October 1996. Corporal H.G. Kent spent time defending his country overseas in the former Yugoslavia in 1992/93 and then again in a second tour in 1994/95. Harold was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes during his second tour and given a medical release from the Military. Harold worked as Commissionaire at CFB Gagetown up until his death. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Tuesday, April 14th, 2009 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday, April 15th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 16th, 2009 from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 11am with Fr. Ken Weir officiating. Interment will take place in Newfoundland.
