The RCR Museum Capital Campaign
Campaign Overview

The RCR Museum is considered one of the finest military museums in Canada.

Wolseley Hall, the Museum's building on Elizabeth Street, has been designated as a national historic site.

Noted Canadian historian Jack Granatstein said:

"This regimental museum is the very best I have seen anywhere in this country. The quality of the exhibits, the wealth of material, the sense of proud history conveyed was remarkable. The Museum's campaign - designed to make an excellent museum still better - deserves the support of Canadians."

The Government of Canada maintains the actual museum building but provides no federal funding for a Museum operating budget or for upgrades, expansion, and improvements.

In 1999, The RCR launched The RCR Museum Endowment Campaign that raised an endowment of $2.9 million to provide an annual operating budget to staff and run the Museum.

Now, in order to update and expand The RCR Museum, Phase 2 of the capital campaign will launch in the Spring of 2007 with a focus on external sources of funds.

We have a top-notch campaign cabinet and have recruited Gordon Pinsent as Honorary Chairman whose national profile should help us attract national media attention.

Mr. Douglas Weldon, a member of the Museum Board of Directors and Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the 4th Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (4RCR), is the Campaign Chair.

For this campaign to succeed, we need your help and commitment. Your support will help to ensure that The RCR Museum will continue to tell Canadians of all ages, particularly young Canadians, the story of Canada's military heritage and the very important role that it has played in our country's development.
