The Royal Canadian Regiment Association

THE 130TH REUNION: 02 to 04 August 2013

1.  Background:  The RCR Association will mark the 130th year of the formation of the Regiment during the summer of 2013. The NL Branch has offered to conduct the event in St John's, NL. Their offer has since been approved. While many members may not find it financially feasible to attend the event in NL, it is felt that over the years Newfoundland has provided many fine Royal Canadians. Notwithstanding that the nationally sponsored reunion will be conducted in NL, Branches are encouraged, if they so wish, to hold branch sponsored activities to commemorate the event.

2.  Korean War:  2013 also represents the 60th anniversary of the cessation of hostilities in Korea. As an Association and Regiment it behoves us during the 2013 period to acknowledge the significance of that occasion. To that end our remembrance parade during the reunion timeframe will not only remember all past Royal Canadians but will especially make note of Canada's and the Regiment's contribution to the Korean War.

3.  Activities:  While all activities have yet to be confirmed here is a taste of what to expect:

• On arrival, reception and Meet & Greet;
• Local tours (i.e. whale watching);
• National Annual General Meeting;
• Dinner / BBQ & Dance;
• Lots and Lots of comradeship;
• Memorial Parade (with specific emphasis on Korea); and
• lots more...

4.  The organizing committee chaired by Bruce King is diligently working to put together a complete package that will cover costs, accommodations, sightseeing and the like.
